Gene Edwin Gibson, 63, went to be with the Lord at 5:07 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Genesis Hospice following a lengthy illness. He was born April 16, 1949 to the late Harry Gibson and Ollie B. Snode. Gene was a Marine veteran. He is survived by wife Sharon Gibson; brother, Larry (Joy) Gibson, step-children, Diane, Melissa and Chuckie; step-grandchildren, Tiffany and James; nephew, Mike (Karyn) Gibson; nieces, Susie (Jamie) Cameron and Heidi (Pete) Gibson (Matthews); aunts, Violet and Cleo; numerous step-nieces and nephews and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Harry Snode; grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles. The family would like to thank everyone at Genesis Hospice for the loving care they provided during Gene’s final days. You may call on the family Saturday, May 5, 2012 beginning at 12 p.m. with service to follow at 1 p.m. at Burrell Funeral Services, 414 LaSalle Street. Minister Tim Patton will officiate.
