Sidney Duane Holland, 70, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born December 14, 1941 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late George S. and Mary Virginia (Schilling) Holland. After graduating from Philo High school in 1959, Sid went to serve in the U.S. Marines until 1963. He then wed Donna M. Brown on January 14, 1967. He had been employed at Simcala in Alabama and was retired from Ohio Ferro Alloy in Philo. He enjoyed baseball. He is survived by his daughter, April Dawn (Huck Milner) Holland of the home; granddaughter, Chelsea Elizabeth Holland; brothers, Roger (Nancy) Holland of Chandlersville, George (Cecilia) Holland of Conesville and Gordon (Jan) Holland of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Cheryl Wilson of Zanesville and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife who died October 3, 1995; brother-in-law, Ed Wilson and nephews, Allen D. Holland and Robbie Wilson. There will be a memorial service Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the funeral home with Jody Holland officiating. Cremation has been chosen.
